Waitara

Laid out on the Taranaki coastline, the short but sweet 18-hole course at Waitara Golf Club is a seaside gem – known locally as the Airdale Links – with rumpled, sandy-soiled fairways offering a firm and fast playing experience.

Situated a mere 20-minute drive from New Plymouth, the course offers spectacular views of the Tasman Sea to the north and Mount Taranaki to the south. Measuring around 4,750 metres from the tips, the layout plays to a par of 67 with holes arranged as two returning nines.

There’s only one par five on the card at the left doglegging 5th, and the six one-shot holes on the course are evenly spread, three on each nine. The most notable holes are the par fours at the 10th, 11th and 15th which run along the shoreline and you’ll feel the full force of the sea breezes on this stretch.
