I last played here in 2018. I had to stop a greenkeeper after playing the 13th green. “Excuse me, can I just say that these are the best greens I’ve played in this year.”

Living over in Widnes I’ve visited Warrington on many occasions albeit, not for a few years now. I’ve never found it in anything but exceptional condition. I recall speaking to the staff that day. Clearly he was very proud of what they had achieved.

The course itself is a nice layout. It has a few cheeky tactical holes were one might choose to play an iron from the tee. It also has a couple of tough holes such as the 1st, 11th and 18th but then the likes of the 10th and 12th holes (296 yards and 256 yards) that kind of feel like fill in holes. It certainly isn’t a tough golf course measuring just 6211 yards but I would imagine as a member one would never tire of playing here.

I recall on playing here on the day when the famous Creamfields festival was on. The course offered fabulous views of the entire site. Perhaps the music did little for my tempo.

The course rightly deserves its place in the list of Cheshire courses. It is definitely worth playing.
