Warwickshire (Kings)

Situated three miles north of Warwick Castle which was built as a wooden fort by William the Conqueror in 1068 then reconstructed in stone during the 12th century, the 36-hole golf complex at The Warwickshire first opened for play in 1994.

Architect Karl Litten set out four 9-hole loops – originally called North, South, East and West – which were reconfigured as two distinct 18-hole courses in 2005, with the Kings course now comprising the old South and East nines.

Described as a “scenic American-style 18-hole parkland course” with “wide fairways, large undulating greens protected by strategically placed bunkers and plenty of lakes and water hazards” the Kings is quite the challenge.

Feature holes include testing par threes at the 8th and 17th (which both play over water totwo-tiered greens); the double doglegging par five 16th (with a lake to the left of the green); and the par five closing hole, where more water lurks to the right of the home green.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
