Waterkloof

The course at Waterkloof lies on the Waterkloof Ridge which overlooks the R21 highway and the Groenkloof Nature Reserve, with the Voortrekker Monument situated less than 5 kilometres from the club.

The club was formed in 1969 but changed its name from Monument Golf Club to Waterkloof Golf Club in 2006, two years after the property was converted into a residential estate.

Peter Matkovich was engaged to remodel the layout in 2004, constructing challenging greens which provide the main interest on a layout that is generally wide and forgiving.

The course plays to a par of 72, measuring 6,677 metres from the back tees, with holes arranged as two returning nines, each of which conclude side by side with a pond separating the 9th and 18th greens in front of the clubhouse.

Other holes of note include the long, narrow par four 3rd (rated stroke index 3); the par four 5th (with water to the left of the green); and the par three 8 th (with another pond to the right of the green).

On the back nine, the par four 12th is a tough hole (narrowing and veering left as the fairway approaches the green) and the last of the short holes at the par three 17th brings yet another water hazard into play to the left of the green.
