Wentworth Falls is a demanding parkland golf course in the Blue Mountains region of NSW that started life in 1913, a full 11 years before the 3 more famous Wentworth courses on the other side of the world in Surrey, England.
The Wentworth Falls course, so named after the spectacular water falls about 3 miles distant, is hilly with excellent greens, a number of water features and mainly rugged tree-lined fairways.
The opening holes set the tone with two long par fours and the expansive 530 yard third, and thereafter the pace never lets up on this 6300 yards par 70 course.
The two other par fives at 14 and 17 are both excellent holes particularly the latter with trees to the left throughout, and a huge dogleg which makes reaching the green in two a formidable challenge.
The course returns to the clubhouse on two occasions firstly at 10 with a long uphill par 4 initially over water and then requiring a mighty second to reach the sloping green, whereas 18 is a much gentler hole again with an uphill drive but this time only a short iron is needed to reach the large home green which offers a good chance of birdie to finish.
We played following days of heavy rainfall which made the course play long, and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, as well as the welcome offered by the members.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
