Situated in the heart of the Blue Mountains, the course at Wentworth Falls Country Club is a Dan Soutar design which began in 1916 as a 9-hole layout. Eight of these original holes still feature in the modern day 18-hole course.
Today, the course extends to just over 5,700 metres, with par set at 70. Holes are set out in three distinct compartments that are separated by roads: holes 1, 10, 11 and 18 lie closest to the clubhouse (which was built on the corner of Blaxland Road and Beatty Road in 1976); the original eight holes (#2 to #9) sit to the east of Pauline Avenue; and holes 12 to 16 occupy another area to the south of Waratah Road.
Highlights on this tree-lined track include the only par five on the front nine at the 483-metre 3rd (with a fairway that has out of bounds to the left and an irrigation pond to the right); the slightly downhill par three 15th (with trees to the left, out of bounds to the right and a bunker protecting the front right of the green); and the short par four closing hole which plays steeply uphill to a bunker-free home green with a back to front camber.
