West Wilts
In 1891, West Wilts Golf Club operates as a J.H. Taylor-designed 18-hole course from an elevated position over Warminster with breathtaking views across three counties. The chalky landscape is natural and offers excellent drainage, which means the course will never be closed because of the heavy rainfall.
The course is located on a small property that is no larger than 80 acres Its course is 5,816 yards from back markers. The course plays up to a par of 69 (35 out, 34 in) The holes are laid out as two nines returning. There are just two par fives holes, located at the 2nd, which is 489 yards long, and the 17th.
Highlights include the opening one of par 3s on the 4th which is 174 yards (with the ridge that runs throughout the course) and the slightly left doglegging 5th hole of par four (rated as stroke index 2.) as well as the tricky Par four 12th (with an out of bounds area to the left) as well as The par four 18th where a thick mound guards on the left side of the green.
