If you think that buying land in the hopes of building homes and golf is an old concept, then think twice. For instance the time that Western Australian was established back in 1928 in the forested lower slopes of Mount Yokine, seventy-five of the 175 and 80 acres were set aside for more than two hundred homes that would face the course that was being constructed.

The architect Eustace Cohen as well as the surveyor Victor Steffanoni laid out 18 holes of rolling terrain. one year after the course was opened to play, Alex Russell - who was in Perth to start a new plan at Lake Karrinyup - modified and added bunkers to the layout.

The golf course of Western Australian Golf Club starts with a daunting par three, which is one of the five holes that are short that are on the cards. With more than 23 traps in this sand-filled nine and a great example of the reason why Western Australian is renowned for the ferocious bunkering. In the second nine stunning panoramas from the 4 12th tee with The city of Perth as a backdrop are, by themselves, worth the effort of playing as a tourist.

Clubhouse, which is a mock Tudor has been updated through the years, allowing it to keep its charm and authenticity, but, more importantly the course has been steadily improved over the years. One of the most significant changes to the course was in 2000, when an irrigation system was installed, which also included a tiny lake between the ninth and first holes. This led to the course being the host for the Western Australian PGA Tournament in 2004. Since the time, Graham Marsh has been involved in some work to remodel the course for the club.
