Westfalischer Gutersloh
Rietberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen- AddressGütersloher Str. 127, 33397 Rietberg, Germany
Westfälischer Golf Club is located about five kilometres to the south of the town of Gütersloh and they commissioned the renowned architect Dr. Bernhard von Limburger to design the course, which opened for play in 1969.
Westfälischer is laid out is a delightful park-like setting where mature trees flank the majority of fairways. Measuring a little more than 6,000 metres from the men’s tees, Westfälischer is not long by modern standards so accuracy rather than length is needed from the tee, especially on some of the more doglegged holes.
Perhaps this is one of Bernhard von Limburger’s better designs and, some forty years after the course opened for play, it is still providing a classic test in elegant surroundings for golfers of all abilities.
