Established in 1932, when founding members had the use of a 9-hole course, Westlake Golf Club found itself in a position to upgrade to a full 18-hole layout within four years of its formation.

The course is situated in a spectacular location, at the foot of the Silvermine Mountains, overlooking the Indian Ocean and False Bay, where holes are laid out on a reasonably level landscape with many of the playing corridors bounded on either side by Cape Pine trees.

Feature holes at Westlake include the short par four 8th, which plays to a green that’s protected by water to the right and three bunkers to the left, and the tight, two-shotter at the 12th, where the fairway gently doglegs downhill and left to the green.

Host venue for the South African Amateur Championship in 1999 and the SA Women’s Open since 2018, the club is well renowned for its hospitality, which is amply demonstrated by the fact that around a third of all rounds here are played by visiting golfers.
