Rather devoid of the thrills I have come to expect from the courses I have played over the past week (all the links running up the coast from West Cornwall). The opening couple of holes are gentle and as the holes came and went I was wondering when it was going to properly kick off.
It never really gets the pulse racing. It is a well manicured course with excellent large greens but is played on very flat land, no dunes to speak of and not many undulations either. Think Felixstowe first 12 holes. John Cleese’s comments on the town of WSM could well represent my own thoughts on WSM golf course, although a little harsh - "a tedious little place"
