Whistler

The mountain resort at Whistler offers golfers four championship 18-hole layouts designed by four of North America’s most distinguished architects: Big Sky (Robert Cupp) , Nicklaus North (Jack Nicklaus), Chateau Whistler (Robert Trent Jones Jnr) and Arnold Palmers’s first Canadian design here at Whistler Golf Club.

Opened in 1983 and renovated in 2000, the course was upgraded in 2012 when all eighteen holes had their putting surfaces replaced with bentgrass greens. Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains form a spectacular backdrop to a layout where towering Cedar and Fir trees line the fairways as they weave around nine little lakes that are fed by two winding creeks.

A couple of short par fours are amongst the most memorable holes here. “Easy does it,” the 301-yard 4th, doglegs slightly left and downhill to a green surrounded by four large bunkers and “Windtalker,” the 334-yard 10th, bends slightly right and downhill at the point where Crabapple Creek crosses the fairway in front of the green.

Thad Layton from Arnold Palmer Golf Design was appointed to develop a renovation masterplan for the course in 2022. Key to the proposed work is improving the playability and maintenance of the bunkers, along with tree trimming and vegetation removal to open up sightlines across the property.
