Although it features one of the longest holes in the country (the 569-metre 9th), the Golf Club Wiesensee course measures a modest 5,917 metres in total so, despite the gargantuan par five hole at the end of the front nine, it’s by no means a long slog.

Occupying a property of around 140 acres, the course is laid out as two returning nines, playing to a par of 72 (37 out then 35 in). Water comes into play occasionally, starting with the first tee shot of the day over an ornamental pond at the 1st hole. There’s a wetland area to carry at the par three 2nd and a pond lurks to the front right of the par four 4th green. On the inward half, a small ditch crosses the fairway on the par five 17th and a narrow, stone-lined ditch also fronts the home green at the par four 18th.

Other highlights here include the narrow, right doglegging par five 3rd (rated stroke index 1) with out of bounds running all along the right side of the fairway; the par five 9th (where the green is fronted by a path crossing the fairway); the long par three 11th (with a bunker positioned to the front left of the green); and the par four 14th which turns right at a 90 degree angle towards a heavily bunkered green.
