The Windance Country Club was forced to sell during 2007 and fortunately found a buyer in the nearby Island View Casino Resort, which now operates the course as an attraction for its guests and the general public.
Sitting near to the popular tourist destination of Gulfport, Windance is surprisingly not rife with wetlands. Designer Mark McCumber found his way toward the natural ponds and creeks on the property and, in some cases, made sure to bring his holes near to the constructed irrigation ponds for additional challenge.
The first nine snakes along the south and east borders of the property, calling for accurate shots with a combination of the aforementioned water hazards, as well as forested corridors. The second nine heads north a weaves between a residential area on the north side of Windance Lake.
Although just 6,650 yards from the back tees, the course has proven challenging enough to host events from both the Nike and Ben Hogan tours, developmental leagues for aspiring PGA Tour pros.
Windance Country Club is owned by Island View Casino Resort and is one of the area’s top resort courses. They’ve recently installed a state-of-the-art irrigation system to help keep the course green year-round. Windance was designed by Mark McCumber and plays over 6,600 yards from the back tees. As you traverse the layout you’ll find rolling terrain on top of very tight fairways and average size greens with less undulation than most.
