Wychwood Park Golf Course

James nominated Wychwood Park as a gem and the course was added to the site in April 2006. Since then Wychwood Park has became a ranked Cheshire Best In County course. We didn’t feel the need to write an article because James says it all:

James writes: “Living less than a quarter of a mile away, I have seen the progress of this course stop and start over the years. Finally in 2002 the course was opened, and it was more than worth the wait. Within a year it was hosting a Europro Tour Event, the 2003 Countryside Properties Classic and has since been a regular venue for the Manchester District Alliance, the Northern PGA and the English Deaf Golfers association. Not bad for a course only three and a half years old.

As a course it is exceptional and without a doubt is certainly one of the best courses in the North of England, if not the country. Being owned by Initial Style Conferences disguises what a wonderful course and venue this really is. I have no doubt if it were owned by De Vere it would have a better golfing reputation than it currently does, and thoroughly deserved it would be. Year round the course is kept in immaculate condition, and the quality of the design and irrigation system mean that it is rarely closed.

The choice of holes is as varied as they come and make for a challenging course, worthy of is European PGA Tour standard label. Holes of particular note are the par five 7th, a daunting 500+ yard monster with a split fairway and a 150-yard carry over an environmentally protected area, not for the faint of heart. Then there are the par threes at the 6th and 17th, two of the most aesthetically pleasing holes I have ever seen, it helps when the challenge they offer is beautifully deceptive. I have no doubt that Wychwood Park is a tour course in waiting. It is more than worthy of being classed as one of the Top 100 courses in the UK."

Since James nominated Wychwood Park as a gem in 2006, the facility has changed hands multiple times and is now owned (April 2019) by Mokan Hotels Group and managed by Legacy Hotels.
