Wylihof
Wylihof Golf Club is situated in the foothills of the Jura, separated from the town of Luterbach by the River Aare, and its central location within the country was a prime reason for the Swiss PGA establishing its Training and Further Education Centre at the club.
Formed in 1942, the Swiss PGA has around 300 members and many of its teaching professionals, playing professionals and apprentices enjoy the facilities at Wylihof for the traditional Team Championship at the start of every season.
The par 73 course at Wylihof is the nation’s longest, measuring 7,242 yards from the back tees, and it’s an open, largely level layout with water only in play occasionally. Holes are routed in two circuits – the back nine is laid out around the perimeter of the property, enclosing the front nine – with hazards clearly laid out before the golfer on every hole.
The Credit Suisse Challenge event on the European Challenge Tour has been held at Wylihof since 2006, having started out as the Credit Suisse Private Banking Open at the Golf Club Patriziale Ascona in 2000.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
