Yellowstone Country Club
Located under the picturesque Billings rimrocks, Yellowstone Country Club has its origins in the Billings Golf and Country Club which was founded in 1914. In 1958, the club moved west along the valley to a new 630-acre site, with Robert Trent Jones Sr. engaged to lay out a new 18-hole course for the members.
Around a third of the acreage is devoted to golf (although 75 acres have been ear marked for a possible 9-hole development in the future) with four hundred homes constructed on the remaining portion of the property.
A bunker renovation was carried out in the early 1990s to reduce the number of sand hazards by almost a quarter and most of the trademark RTJ runway tees were also replaced. Since then, the club has invested heavily in a state of the art irrigation system.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
