Not sure the severe wind and rain conditions were best way to review a course, but have to say course stood up pretty well to recent bad weather and it was very well presented. A gentle par 4 was a nice way to open but the 2nd on the day was almost impossible; an uphill par 3 where you are mean't to aim at right hand side with severe side wind from the right and trees lining the right hand side from the tee box. After that the course rose to the higher ground via holes 3 and 4 and holes 5 to 12 were on a plateau; despite being wet through at this stage I thought holes 3 through to 12 were pretty good (including a series of interesting dog-leg par 4's) and I was starting to think very positively about the course. The 13th, a short par 3 was I thought a poor hole and it felt like an infill and from hereon the course seemed to lose it's way. Holes 14 and 15 just seemed to get you back to the lower levels by the clubhouse, with 15 and 16 having downhill tee shots (but no real substance), the 17th very unusual/odd and the 18th not overly exciting.
Overall reminds me a bit of Mendip in Somerset; undulating parkland would probably sum it up, holes 3 to 12 the pick, no real stand-out holes. Some way below the top 5 in Dorset but in good condition and enough interest to merit a visit if in area.
