Located on the Baltic Sea coastline, Ystad Golfklubb began operations in 1932 with a 9-hole course but over the years this initial layout has evolved into the testing Thure Bruce-designed track that’s in play today. That’s despite the course closing and the clubhouse being used as a military base during World War II, with only six holes reopening for play in 1953.
Nowadays, the course extends to just over 6,000 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, with holes laid out as two returning nines. The Nybro river cuts through the property, with holes 3 to 7 located on the west side of this water course as heads towards the sea.
Highlight holes include the par four 3rd (played to an island green); the double doglegging par five 7th (where a pond protects the front left of the green); and the last (and shortest) of the par threes at the 115-metre 15th, which features a long, narrow green.
