Netherlands Antilles

The Netherlands Antilles, formerly known as the Dutch West Indies, are two groups of islands that lie in the Caribbean Sea. The Leeward Islands to the north consist of Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Sint Maarten and the Windward Islands to the south include Bonaire and Curaçao. Collectively, the islands are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and have had an association with the mother country since the Dutch West India Company captured them back in the 17th century.

Tourism, along with petroleum refining and offshore finance, has been a mainstay of the Netherlands Antillean's economy since the 1970s. Curaçao’s Blue Bay was one of the very few golf courses to have been constructed to keep visiting golfers occupied when on vacation to the islands. However, Blue Bay was joined by a second course in 2010 at Santa Barbara Plantation. Pete Dye’s Old Quarry layout has now turned Curaçao, the largest of these tropical islands, into a delightful double golfing cocktail to be sipped with a cool and delicious Blue Lagoon.
