A.W. Tillinghast set out the original 18-hole course at Upper Montclair Country Club in the 1920s then Robert Trent Jones completely renovated the layout in 1956, adding another nine holes (the South) in the process.

One of three daily fee facilities operated by the Ottinger Golf Group, Scotland Run Golf Club opened for play in 1999. Five of the holes on the course – most notably the 16th – are built around an old sand quarry.

50th New Jersey - Best in Area

Formed in 1898, Spring Lake Golf Club operated a 9-hole course up until a new 18-hole George C. Thomas Jr. layout arrived in 1911. A. W. Tillinghast substantially modified the course seven years later and this is the one that’s still in play today.
