Second only to the 18 holes on the Black layout at the five-course Bethpage State Park complex, the Red course is known to some as “Baby Black,” giving ample indication of the challenge that awaits here.
The course at Silo Ridge Field Club started out in 1992 as the private Segalla Country Club. It then morphed into Island Green before being refashioned by Tom Fazio in 2016.
It’s said that course architect Donald Ross accomplished his first hole in one when playing the short 7th hole at Tuegega Country Club, shortly after he designed the Lake Delta layout in 1921.

The White and Blue nines form the course of first choice at Glen Oaks Club, a 1971 Joe Finger creation. Joel Weiman of McDonald Design Group recently renovated all twenty-seven holes, with trees removed and bunkers rationalized.
Devereux Emmet designed the Huntington Country Club course back in 1911. It’s been altered since then (including Emmet again in 1928) but there’s still enough character left to set it apart from many others in the area.
Host to the 1934 PGA Championship, Park Country Club in Williamsville is a C.H. Alison layout. Ian Andrews recently removed trees, improved grassing lines and upgraded bunkers, modifying some and restoring others.
Sands Point Golf Club was formed in 1928, when A. W. Tillinghast was invited to modify an existing 9-hole layout and construct another nine. Despite many alterations, Tilly’s trademark deep greenside bunkers survive.
Old Oaks Country Club was founded in 1936 with the merger of Oak Ridge and Purchase Country Club. Despite losing a third of A. W. Tillinghast’s original 27-hole layout to road construction, 18 of the old master’s holes endure.
The longest of three 18-hole layouts at the Turning Stone Resort, Tom Fazio’s Atunyote golf course extends to 7,315 yards from the back tees. It hosted the BC Open in 2006, the last time that particular PGA Tour event was played before the introduction of the FedEx Cup.
