Northern Territory
The Northern Territory is an enormous expanse of largely desert terrain in the north of Australia that extends to over half a million square miles. It’s the most sparsely populated state or territory in the country, with most of its population of around quarter of a million people living along the Stuart Highway that links Darwin, the capital, to the rest of Australia.

Golf NT is the governing body for amateur golf in the Northern Territory, reporting to Golf Australia on all golfing matters in a region that’s as big as France, Spain and Italy combined. Currently, there are eleven courses, seven of which are 9-hole layouts, spread out across this massive area.
The four clubs with full 18-hole designs are Palmerston in Driver (the layout plays to a par of 70), Tennant Creek (which features sand greens), Darwin (the current track opened in 1974) and Alice Springs, where the course was officially opened by Greg Norman and Johnnie Miller in 1985.
