The first golf course in the UK designed by Colin Montgomerie will break tradition by having a 19th hole.
On the Rowallan Castle Golf Club course, a resort under construction in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, the 19th will be a genuine par-three championship hole.
The idea was the additional hole will be used by players who complete 18 holes and find their match is tied.
Course designers led by Mr Montgomerie dubbed it "the money hole", as it is likely to settle wagers.
Normally, they would play the first or 18th again.
Rowallan is a £55m project which is expected to see the first members tee off next summer.
Mr Montgomerie said: "We just thought why not?
"The 19th is the stuff of golfing legend.
"It was time to make it a reality."
