Peter de Savary buys Dornoch’s Royal Golf Hotel

Peter de Savary as Chairman of Savvy Destinations announced the completion of the purchase of the Royal Golf Hotel, Dornoch in Scotland. In doing so, de Savary renews his long association with the Scottish Highlands where he previously owned Glenborrodale Castle and Skibo Castle (1990 to 2003) and where he launched the very successful Carnegie Club. In just over 30 years, de Savary has created over 25 highly successful hotels, resorts and private clubs in addition to seven highly-rated championship golf courses around the world. These have included The St James’ Clubs worldwide, Carnegie Abbey in Rhode Island, Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina, Bovey Castle in Devon, Stapleford Park in Leicestershire and The Abaco Club in the Bahamas.

The Royal Golf Hotel is located on the first tee of the internationally famous, Royal Dornoch course, regularly rated in the top 20 in the world. The 25 bedroom hotel has now been closed for a complete refurbishment programme and will reopen in April 2007. Located less than an hour’s drive from Inverness, the hotel is spectacularly set overlooking the links and Dornoch’s sandy beaches.

When the hotel opens in April, de Savary plans to entertain guests with a character, four star hotel, offering great value with his signature-style of service and relaxed ambiance. Having over 20 exciting golf courses within one hours drive of the property, The Royal Golf is ideally situated for family holidays, touring the Highlands, hunting, fishing and of course, superb and legendary golf.
