Augusta National Golf Club was founded by Georgian native Bobby Jones, the famous amateur golf champion, along with investment banker Clifford Roberts from Iowa, with the two men teaming up shortly after Jones retired from competitive golf in 1930.

The Masters marks the season’s first major golf tournament, and it won’t be long before the world’s best are teeing it up at the famous Augusta course.

John Rahm is the reigning champion, shooting a three-under-par 69 in the final round for a total winning score of 276 in 2023. He was four strokes ahead of Brooks Kopeka and Phil Mickelson

The field is traditionally smaller because the event remains invitation-only, differing from the majors you can qualify for.

It’s incredibly hard to predict a winner, but Rahm, who’s looking to defend his title, is likely to be a strong contender alongside 2022 winner Scottie Scheffler and Northern Irishman Rory Mcllroy.
