My passion lies mostly in historically significant golf clubs, however; I will pretty much play anywhere. I’m currently in law enforcement and have worked in that capacity for the last 12 years. Prior to that, I worked in the golf industry in maintenance, cart barn, and finally as an assistant professional.
I’m partial to classic golden architecture golf courses. The list of most importance to me is the Top 200 golf courses published by Golfweek every year. While I still do play modern golf courses, especially those that are coming out now that are more of a throwback to traditional architecture, my mission is mostly related to classic courses.
I hope that you will enjoy my reviews and point of view on the golf courses that I have played as the value/meaning of certain courses may be more special to me than others.
I was between 4 and 4 1/2 stars for Dalhousie. It is very much a modern cou rse. While it was built as by Nicklaus to have certain aspect of a Scottish links course, it...
In my opinion out of all the golf courses I've played in the Lake of the Ozarks, this is the crown jewel, and I've played the private ones as well. Old Kinderhook is a m...
Fox Run is one of the more scenic clubs in the St Louis area and it is worth playing due to the serenity of the round if nothing else. There are no houses. The holes ar...
We played St Joseph CC this past season on our trip out west from St Louis. It was our first stop and I'm glad we were able to squeeze it in. Truthfully, I knew very li...
Annbriar is a true diamond in the rough in Southern Illinois (Greater St Louis area). It is in my opinion the single best public option in all of the area. The course i...
A great golf course. We just play last week on a brisk but sunny February morning in Bandon. There aren't any bad golf courses in Bandon. While this ranked fourth for...
I wish I could rank this higher being one of the few decent public options in my home state. But having played it three times over the years, its simply not a memorable...
I have enjoyed a round at Lake Forest several times over the years. The one thing that always brings me back is that the course is always in pretty darn good shape. The...
I can't say enough about this club. From the staff led by Bill Morach to the course condition and routing, to the brand new state of the art clubhouse, to it's pedigree...
Probably the purest links course at Bandon. We played on a beautiful February morning and the wind wasn't too bad (but it was definitely still there). A simple start wi...
This was my favorite course at Bandon and the only one I gave a perfect score. They always say the original is the best. Admittedly, I was already a Mclay Kidd fan when...
A wonderful golf experience. Although Pac starts off with an inauspicious par 4, the course slowly builds to some breathtaking holes capped off with the back to back par...
I enjoyed getting to play Portland Golf Club this past Sunday. It is a gem with a great deal of history. Typical old parkland style golf club with great routing. An in...
Old Hawthorne was a well maintained newer style private residential type course. In my opinion the width and space between holes along with the housing takes away from w...
So I really enjoyed my trip to Glade Springs, my brother and I both liked the Cobb course the best, but Stonehaven offered some fantastic views and topography. The condi...
Note: (I played the year before the flood in 2016)This course feels exactly as its history reads. After Nicklaus redid the course in the late 70's, holes were added and w...
I loved the Love course at Barefoot (no pun intended). While it is still definitely a resort course, its a good one. The way that Love incorporated the ruins on an old...
TPC Myrtle Beach wasn't necessarily a memorable golf experience considering its a TPC course. There are so many options in this part of the country, which makes it hard...
Burnt Pine screams Rees Jones and it screams modern golf. While neither of these is my cup of tea, the course is pretty and worth playing. There is water everywhere and...
Feels like a typical Palmer resort course (the lead architect was a Palmer design guy) so this makes sense. Lot of good golf holes and a lot of water. The conditioning...
