Peter Wood

Peter Wood came to golf late – a tennis player who took up golf in his 30’s – and was hooked for life with the unique combination of different golf course strategies in different terrains and just the game itself.

After years running a successful accountancy practice, heart surgery became the catalyst for change, and on regaining good health Peter pursued his passions in golf architecture and travel to set up The Travelling Golfer – an international golf tour operator specialising in small groups and special destinations.

Along the way Peter took on the challenge of building a world-class golf course, becoming part owner, inaugural chairman and financial controller of Barnbougle Dunes golf links in Tasmania – Australia’s premier public access golf course and a World Top 50 course.

Peter is also a golf writer – Australia’s first member of the International Golf Travel Writers Association. Peter and Heather also run an annual charity golf tournament for the benefit of breast cancer research.
