I have played over 900 different golf courses, of which over 700 of them are on this website. I don't chase "lists" but I look at them to see whether a course worth playing is nearby on my travels. I have my own rating system and have ranked every course I have played. My golf bucket list is to play in every state in the USA (47 so far) and at least 20 countries. I lived in England from 1993-1998 and am a member of a club in Scotland so I continue to go every year to the U.K or Ireland. There are about 400 more golf courses I would love to play. So much golf.....so little time.
I was referred by another to play Wallasey for its history. It’s history includes Wallasey being chosen several times as a qualifying site for the Open Championship inclu...
I would need a second visit to Southport & Ainsdale to form a clearer opinion of the course. As of now, I do not consider it to be a links course. I do not necessarily...
Longniddry is a pleasant course to play particularly if one is adding a second round on the same day. While the yardage seems short at 6271 yards, the course has no par...
West Lancashire is a fine links golf course, not quite at the level as many of the other courses nearby perhaps due to having fewer distinctive land features. The course...

I liked Little Aston due to its tranquility and playability. It is set away from road noise and one does not see any housing due to the thick trees that line the border...
West Sussex is a gem. I am delighted to have finally played it. It is one of the most lovely walks one will ever take on a golf course. It is a visually attractive cou...
I regret taking so long to play Hankley Common. It is well deserving of its high rankings and praise. Although it can play difficult, it is also fair. It is also fun....
Metropolis is a course of inconsistency. In the golf rich state of New York, if a course is recognized as being in the top 40, it is a course very much worth playing. M...
Sunningdale is a delightful course featuring a lot of movement in the land due to a central hill on the front nine that also influences several of the holes on the back n...
I agree with M. James Ward that Century Country Club is a gem. In the golf rich state of New York as well as the area with the best golf in the world (Long Island/Westch...
Leatherstocking is fun to play due to both the land movement on many holes, the final three holes along Otsega Lake (or is it Glimmerglass), and many interesting green su...
In the past several years, Glens Falls has received recognition as being the best golf course between Rochester and Westchester County of New York. The famous architect...
St. George’s Golf and Country Club is often overlooked due to its location on Long Island, New York which I consider to be “the home of golf” in the USA. Part of that is...
The Links at Perry Cabin is currently listed in the top three public golf courses in the state of Maryland by most rating publications. I wanted to play it because I am...
Rosapenna St Patrick’s, designed by Tom Doak, made a strong debut after opening in 2021 with Golf Magazine ranking it the 55th best course in the world.Combined with Nari...
Rosapenna Sandy Hills is a good golf course. After playing it the first time, I was eager to play it again two days later. It is one of the most dramatic courses I have...
