I've played golf for around 40 years now, mainly around GB&I but have travelled extensively in the last 15 years to play and have had a great time. Coastal golf remains my favourite style of course and would always be my first choice, in saying that a recent visit to The Links at Fancourt, South Africa gave an instant entry to my personal top 5. Must have played close to 1,000 courses now and love sharing my thoughts on the Top 100 website, which is the best source around to research courses and opinions.
I am fan of everything at Moor Park; the courses, the mansion, the tournament history and the obvious air of quality. The West course in places is as good as the High cou...
For a course that we can certainly call a Surrey great (#19) and also strong in country (#82), Royal Wimbledon does not get the attention of others either in the area or...
Looking at my notes post round it was clear to me that the course at Royal Winchester gave more observations than any other I have played this year - a course that had be...
There is so much to love about the Kent coastal courses – the obvious big hitting courses around Sandwich Bay are classics but there are a few others that are at the next...
A first visit to Lamberhurst in around thirty years and pleased that I have returned recently - there is not a lot to dislike at all and there are strong parts of the cou...
A game at Woodbridge is always a treat and something to look forward to – my recent visit has seen the course experience improve with the very needed woodland management...
My third visit to Chigwell; it is a decent parkland course (comfortably part of an Essex Top 10) with some very strong holes and the very first hole sets the scene early;...
Another course I played a number of times in my youth (quite a while ago now) but remember little from back then. I have returned recently and really enjoyed the course a...
A second visit to Sudbury for me, last one around eight years ago. Since my first game, the course has a much better look now – the obvious change has been to swap the ni...
County course rankings have definitely coincided with clubs taking more time and investing more effort to get the very best of their course, Boyce Hill is a great example...
Lets say that this is my first visit to Nevill GC (I did play here around thirty-five years ago but remember nothing). First thing to say based on what I have been told i...
It has been a while since I have played a full round here and to be honest, I had forgotten how enjoyable a game is at Verulam. Whilst on paper, the course can look short...
The Bay course is around ten minutes from the centre at Navarino and gives some breath-taking views around the bay of which it takes its name, the course has plenty of el...
Costa Navarino as a destination gives a fantastic experience on and off the courses with the Dunes course the standout right now. Who knows if this will change when the t...
The Middle East rankings place Al Mouj above all Dubai courses and only behind Yas Links in Abu Dhabi, which is some recognition. I recently visited Musket and played at...
Yas has some brilliant holes and is a must-play and safe to say Abu Dhabi's number 1 course and is certainly links-like and is really impressive. Lots of holes by the wat...
I think for total enjoyment, Saadiyat was favourite course recently on a brief visit to Abu Dhabi - I also played at Yas Links and the National. The location brings in so...
I think that all golfers enjoy playing a course that hosts a big Tour event just to see how different your own game is when comparing with the players that earn a living...
Chobham golf club is located in an area of Surrey that is an absolute hotbed of top-end English courses. Now whilst this course cannot compete at the top table, this is w...
I thought I had set my expectations appropriately ahead of playing Westerham, the #27 ranked Kent course (2018 numbers); wow this is so much better than that position. Ma...
