I am an 10-handicap member of Les Mielles in Jersey, where I am lucky enough to be able to regularly play some great golf both on the island and in France. I'm a traditional links golf addict and have an unofficial challenge with a good friend to play all classic links courses in Britain in a few weeks per year, of course using the Top 100 Golf Courses and its informed users as our Bible!
If I could only play at one golf course for the rest of my life it would have to be Royal Dornoch (gorse controversy not withstanding) – maybe one day I would birdie Foxy?
Rye is a wonderful course and open to respectful visitors. Having arranged our visit in advance with the secretary, we were treated with the utmost friendliness and were...
The cliche is that you have to play the Old Course several times in order to give it a fair rating, and even then it's not “all that”.I (somewhat) respectfully disagree,...
To reiterate the other reviews, this is a great golfing experience - it's one of the oldest links on the planet and the holes reflect that. On the whole they follow the...
Easterly one/two club wind, true but not too quick greens, beautiful northern highland sunshine - Dornoch on a Spring day is heaven! Was eager to see the changes to the t...
As many others have said, along with San Lorenzo the pick of the Algarve. Not overly hard, but very interesting holes and the course rewards good play and punishes bad. A...
I have been fortunate enough to play both the Kintyre and Ailsa twice now, and would love to return. Even off the whites you are conscious that a greater challenge lurks...
A little delayed, but having enjoyed reading back the reviews for this course I am prompted to a bit of revisionism for my original 5 ball review. We returned to the Roya...
Eight years have passed since our first game and review at Spey Valley and it is great to see the course having matured so well. We haven't, so took a buggie, which was a...
I will give this a 6 ball review because it is a true clifftop links (in a dry spell you will smile at the Lunar description because after the simple first your jaw drops...
Superb golf here, a true out and back, and the outward nine are amazing - from the 2nd onwards it kept getting more and more unbelievably spectacular and fun. Almost an o...
Three of us stayed and played two days ago on the One Time arrangement, staying in the beautiful club house suites then playing our round the next day.Our ex pro fore cad...
A great course, played at the end of March (only £55 !) and it was in great nick. Some lovely holes and superb views. Very historic clubhouse full of members who were pro...
We paid £130 each for a day ticket at Royal St George's and we all agreed that it was the greatest day of golf that we had experienced. Having arranged our game in advanc...
If you appreciate quirky golf courses - a blow hole, huge carry across cliffs with fishermen below, tee shot from a lighthouse, what Bernard Darwin would call "live hazar...
I can only agree with some of the reviews here, quoting golfing heaven etc. One of the most memorable rounds of my life, in a howling gale, but the feeling of coming back...
Apologies since it's superfluous really, but this is a review of our return visit to Dornoch this April on the play and stay at the Royal Golf Hotel. Combined with playin...
Having been snowed off in 2010, we were delighted to play here this April! I was fully expecting to love Cruden Bay with its stunning location and quirky design, but I wa...
I realise that I never actually reviewed this before after playing a few years ago, but offered the comment that we were made to feel knee high to a worm when hauled off...
Hayling was the surprise package of a recent week in the South-West/South of England finally getting to play some courses that had long been on the radar thanks to this s...
Great course, must play for lovers of traditional golf. You also need to be fit - there are no golf carts allowed, and even though you may be playing off the forward tees...
