I am an 10-handicap member of Les Mielles in Jersey, where I am lucky enough to be able to regularly play some great golf both on the island and in France. I'm a traditional links golf addict and have an unofficial challenge with a good friend to play all classic links courses in Britain in a few weeks per year, of course using the Top 100 Golf Courses and its informed users as our Bible!
If I could only play at one golf course for the rest of my life it would have to be Royal Dornoch (gorse controversy not withstanding) – maybe one day I would birdie Foxy?
Just wanted to add to the previous review with a little video of the waterside 10th tee. I am sure that Castle Stuart will become a famous course to play, a golfing Munro...
We played Royal Dornoch for the second time this year, on April 2. they had just cut and ironed the greens and were playing over 10 stimp. i shot 82 previously when the g...
Congratulations to Montrose on its bi-Centenary. We played Montrose as part of the Carnoustie Dream Ticket and thoroughly enjoyed the course. What a friendly place, duri...
Panmure's "Barry Links" is a super course to be enjoyed with its neighbours in Carnoustie and the adjoining Monifieth. It's relatively straightforward and traditional wit...
I can't compete with the preceding review for comprehensive coverage, so just my impressions from playing Castle Stuart twice over the opening weekend. We played off the...
We played the Medal course as part of the highly recommended Carnoustie Dream Ticket. The starter was very friendly as proved the members that we met. In common with lots...
I really love the Old and the New, but for me the true under rated Gem of St Andrews has to be the Jubilee. In the back 9 there are a couple of holes whereby you have dis...
The day we played Saunton was apocalyptic weather, on one hole I screamed a drive out of the middle and it never looked like getting over the dune with the line marker on...
I have been fortunate enough to play both the Kintyre and Ailsa twice now, and would love to return. Even off the whites you are conscious that a greater challenge lurks...
Great course, must play for lovers of traditional golf. You also need to be fit - there are no golf carts allowed, and even though you may be playing off the forward tees...
We played Belas mid week via taxi from Lisbon a few years ago and were just about the only people on the course. Whilst it appears to be the standard European real-estat...
We played Shiskine last week and found it great fun. It was a very windy day, but fortunately the rain clouds that we saw rushing towards us from the Kintyre Peninsula m...
Wow, what a course ! We played The Machrie this afternoon in a 2/3 club wind, fortunately in blustery sunshine, so the views across the bay, of the moors and the Paps of...
I played Formby a couple of weeks ago very early on a very windy morning.Really enjoyed the course, nicely set up and great condition, but with the rough up it was super...
I must preface my comments with the fact that I have played the Kintyre twice as part of a stay and play package with the Ailsa so it always felt like a bonus round. Grea...
To reiterate the other reviews, this is a great golfing experience - it's one of the oldest links on the planet and the holes reflect that. On the whole they follow the...
Lots of fun, very friendly club and out in the middle of the course some great views. We were stuck behind a society on this busy society (as always, ring ahead to get a...
PGA was a fun course to play, but its location in amongst houses and with long trips from green to tee is incongruous in the beauty of Gleneagles - King's then Queen's th...
Two of us stayed and played Forest Pines (all 3 loops) on a beautiful Sunday in May. The courses were in excellent condition, the staff very helpful and we had a great ti...
