I am an 10-handicap member of Les Mielles in Jersey, where I am lucky enough to be able to regularly play some great golf both on the island and in France. I'm a traditional links golf addict and have an unofficial challenge with a good friend to play all classic links courses in Britain in a few weeks per year, of course using the Top 100 Golf Courses and its informed users as our Bible!
If I could only play at one golf course for the rest of my life it would have to be Royal Dornoch (gorse controversy not withstanding) – maybe one day I would birdie Foxy?
I have played here a couple of times and really enjoyed it on both occasions.Very tough opening holes with sandy waste off the fairways true hazards, made me wonder if I...
Really enjoyed playing Moor Allerton recently, located in the thick of what must be one of the best concentrations of quality courses in Britain. An excellent 27 holes to...
I can't understand the attitude of the persistently bitter "low ranker" (cf Seinfeld) below me. Played the Bracken in June and booking was easy, were very welcome at the...
Played RL&SA in a howling gale whilst returning to England after a golfing trip to the Highlands. It was easy to feel respect for the course (tough downwind, almost unpla...
As many others have said, along with San Lorenzo the pick of the Algarve. Not overly hard, but very interesting holes and the course rewards good play and punishes bad. A...
I can only agree with some of the reviews here, quoting golfing heaven etc. One of the most memorable rounds of my life, in a howling gale, but the feeling of coming back...
If you appreciate quirky golf courses - a blow hole, huge carry across cliffs with fishermen below, tee shot from a lighthouse, what Bernard Darwin would call "live hazar...
I played Nairn at the end of March in a howling gale (3 different flags had been blown out of the holes) but on an almost empty course we loved it. A typical Scottish lin...
A great course, played at the end of March (only £55 !) and it was in great nick. Some lovely holes and superb views. Very historic clubhouse full of members who were pro...
We based ourselves at the Sutherland Arms in Brora for our pilgrimage to Dornoch, Golspie and Brora and it's highly recommended. We played the links on our own in high wi...
Superb golf here, a true out and back, and the outward nine are amazing - from the 2nd onwards it kept getting more and more unbelievably spectacular and fun. Almost an o...
I will give this a 6 ball review because it is a true clifftop links (in a dry spell you will smile at the Lunar description because after the simple first your jaw drops...
La Moye is a great clifftop links. Call ahead to get the visitors' times, and you will have a wonderful, good value round of golf. Their dress code has relaxed somewhat s...
There aren't many courses in the world where you gaze at a castle and a Royal bay and the hazards that you have to worry about on the 1st tee are a fort, the beach and bu...
Just played last weekend and had a great time. Very enjoyable course with a variety of challenges and in very good condition. Would have enjoyed even more if I hadn't hit...
I am a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews here. Some of the middle holes are a bit forgettable, true. But what a finish into the prevailing wind, and heading i...
Beautiful course in a lovely, little visited, corner of England.Very friendly course, excellent value green fee, and some memorable holes - warnings regarding Adder snake...
Very enjoyable round of golf, conscious of following in the footsteps of the greats of the game. On a couple of tees you just cannot imagine how you can NOT hit the ball...
