I am an 10-handicap member of Les Mielles in Jersey, where I am lucky enough to be able to regularly play some great golf both on the island and in France. I'm a traditional links golf addict and have an unofficial challenge with a good friend to play all classic links courses in Britain in a few weeks per year, of course using the Top 100 Golf Courses and its informed users as our Bible!
If I could only play at one golf course for the rest of my life it would have to be Royal Dornoch (gorse controversy not withstanding) – maybe one day I would birdie Foxy?
We played today in lovely sunshine and a 2 club wind. The greens were playing extremely true and quick (the Somerset Amateur championships were out earlier in the day), t...
I've played Granville a few times and enjoyed thoroughly. It's a very nice, very French town and the Links is right on the coast just to the north. A welcoming club house...
I've played Royal Guernsey/L'Ancresse (two clubs play on the same links) several times including the Trophy off the back tees and really like it. There is a mixture of st...
We really enjoyed a beautiful sunny day here combined with the Kingfisher, lovely countryside with challenging changes in elevation and nice use of natural water features...
An excellent society venue. It felt like the side of a hill in the middle of nowhere with some plain opening holes seen from the drive that play as somewhat of a processi...
Driving up to Notts through its lengthy driveway gives you a great sense of anticipation and wondering if it would live up to its lofty reputation. An excellent lunch in...
Bamburgh Castle has had lots of varying reviews, and as with many similar courses this indicates that it is a course worth visiting and making your own mind up. Personall...
We played Northwood in a wet Spring so with its slightly low lying clay nature ground was slightly wet as one would expect, particularly on the holes along the brook. Tha...
Two of us having enjoyed BOL once as a two ball on the way up to Scotland, our society then played the course as an unofficial event as 8 of us and thoroughly enjoyed bot...
Many people seem to miss out on the fact that Prince's is actually a great 27 hole facility and deserves time for all 3 loops. The conventional wisdom is that Shore/Dunes...
Elie was the last course we played on a recent trip in Scotland at the end of March, and in some ways the most pleasant surprise.I had seen it from the village end previo...
We played the Championship course this morning in short sleeves under an azure sky in 15 Celsius, so having finished we were of course ready for more golf ! Lots of peopl...
We played yesterday on a sunny and breezy day. The still damp in places fairways were just open and the greens had been tined and sanded, but despite this the course pla...
Played today in lovely sunny conditions, and as per much of this trip we played in spendid isolation. From this site and numerous pub recommendations I felt that I knew H...
Played today on a sunny, breezy day. Arriving from the pretty town, a friendly welcome and the usual gentle Scottish links opener . The second is a fun uphill hole before...
Three of us stayed and played two days ago on the One Time arrangement, staying in the beautiful club house suites then playing our round the next day.Our ex pro fore cad...
We played yesterday in very strong winds, but fortunately the holes were either into or with the wind so we only lost a few balls between four of us.Quality setup with go...
We finally had the chance to "complete the set" at Gullane, as always an enjoyable place to visit and play golf. It was probably more than a five club wind, drivers out o...
Fun experience to tread in the footsteps, see Mrs. Formans, and play on springy turf. That said, the golf itself is fun and great value but with only a few quality holes...
Great variety in lovely surroundings. No play from fairways in march, hence value rates, but didn't detract from a fun game of sporting golf. Nice turf, some challenging...
