I've been playing golf for more than 40 years and have taken my clubs on my business trips and family holidays. I must have played more than 1,000 courses and all but a handful of Britain & Ireland’s Top 100. I’ve followed this website since its inception and have enjoyed airing my subjective opinions. It’s amazing how wildly views differ and sometimes I wonder if I played the same course as some reviewers as the gap in opinion is so often broad. My handicap has risen from 7 to 11 as my age has increased and my enthusiasm for practising decreased but I still enjoy playing different courses as much today as I did 4 decades ago. Vive les domaines de golf.
One of a number of James Braid courses in the top end of the Suffolk rankings and it’s an enjoyable affair and quite unique with great golfers’ accommodation which we lov...
I genuinely don’t understand why Worlington polarises opinion as it does. For me this is the real deal and still relevant in the 21st century. We play here annually as pa...
I played Woodbridge again on our annual Suffolk trip in October and I love it. For me it’s more interesting than Aldebugh. Woodbridge has variety and style with a couple...
I played Aldeburgh again on our annual Suffolk trip in October and I become less impressed each time I visit. The thing I like most is that it plays firm and fast. It’s g...
I played Purdis again on our annual visit in October and I’m most impressed by the bunker renovations which have improved the course significantly. For me Ipswich is now...
The 5th hole is undoubtedly the star of the show at Alnmouth and the rest of the course play second fiddle. To be fair the front nine is enjoyable but the backside is dis...
It’s interesting to see the Desert course ranked higher than the Mountain as the Mountain was awarded the best renovation in 2015 by Golf Digest. Having played here recen...
Our group played Ross-on-Wye as part of a trip that included the Players Club, Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham & Berrow earlier this month. We expected quite a lot from Ros...
Played the Codrington course earlier this month on a sunny day with a two-club wind and enjoyed it very much. Challenging course with numerous memorable holes of great va...
Torino is THE club to be a member of in Turin and I’ve been lucky enough to play here on couple of occasions. There is something spot on about this club, both from the se...
These two latest six balls reviews are surely the work of Luffenham members or club staff? Luffenham does have positives in that it is set in a lovely place and 17 is one...
We stopped off to play Birr on the way from Dublin to Lahinch. None of us were expecting much but we all came away having enjoyed Birr very much. It’s no championship cou...
Situated directly next to the pay and play Wergs Golf Club in the northern suburbs of Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire is one of a number of really good parkland course...
I went to Abridge to watch Regional Qualifying in June 2011 and was lucky enough to play the course later that week with a friend who is a non-Jewish club member. Present...
Orsett I think is my favourite Essex course, just ahead of Thorndon Park. Both are good tracks but neither is great compared to many others to the west of the M25.
Shanklin and Sandown is a worth making the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight. There are some decent golf courses on the island which combine to make a different g...
Stayed and played recently at Bowood Park on one of their 3-day golf breaks that included 2 nights dinner B&B and 3 rounds of golf for £150. I must say I was very impress...
Played the Outer course back in the summer of April. I know, summer is really June but this June is like April here in the South East. It was a hot sunny day with little...
