I was born in Melbourne and I’m a gentleman of leisure these days after spending around 30 years as a police officer in the wilds of the Northern Territory. Golf became a stress relief valve and I knocked it round in the mid 70s to low 80s for 25 odd years. Became significantly involved with the Darwin Golf Club then did a two-year stint as President of the State Golf Association. I then retired, bought a caravan, put a 12-foot boat on the roof of the 4x4 and two sets of golf clubs under the bed in the van and spent 6 ½ years with my wife Mary “fishin & golfin” our way around Australia.
Wrote a yarn for the Australian Golf Digest on our exploits (click here to read it), as a consequence, was offered a spot on their team, rating the Top 100 Aussie courses and I remain involved with the AGD in that role and as a periodic scribe. I’ve currently played 361 courses in Australia, and a bunch more in England, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Fiji, Philippines and Vietnam.
