I'm a member of Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville Tennessee. Holston is an old Donald Ross layout that is essentially unchanged from its original design over 75 years ago. I usually play between a 1 to a 5 handicap and enjoy playing in local and statewide tournaments. I fell in love with links golf on my first trip to the UK in 1980, and I've had the privilege of playing all of the current and past venues of the Open Championship, having completed the rotation several years ago when I was able to play Musselburgh Old. I'm trying to branch out and play as many top courses as possible and will try my best to give an honest and interesting review of the courses I play.
I have a lot to agree with in the previous review. Many classic Pete Dye elements here but this is in general and enjoyable and fun layout. The front nine was pretty ti...

This course was originally one of the TPC course developments sponsored by the PGA tour. Essentially what you have is a housing development that happens to have a golf c...
First off I have to say I am a big Mike Strantz fan. I have played Caledonia and True Blue multiple times through the years and I am a big fan of Tobacco Road. On a rec...
Raleigh is likely Donald Ross’s last design and I must say he finished on a high note. The course is set on beautiful rolling land just east of the city. The course flo...

Both courses at Grayhawk are solid desert courses that are fun to play. I would say that neither course is outstanding but both courses are well conditioned, aesthetical...
Wow I really enjoyed this course. I played both courses at We-ko-pa and I thought the Saguaro to be both the stronger of the two courses and much more fun to play. The...
