Richard Smith

I'm a member of Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville Tennessee. Holston is an old Donald Ross layout that is essentially unchanged from its original design over 75 years ago. I usually play between a 1 to a 5 handicap and enjoy playing in local and statewide tournaments. I fell in love with links golf on my first trip to the UK in 1980, and I've had the privilege of playing all of the current and past venues of the Open Championship, having completed the rotation several years ago when I was able to play Musselburgh Old. I'm trying to branch out and play as many top courses as possible and will try my best to give an honest and interesting review of the courses I play.

I find it hard to believe that this course isn't rated higher. Monifieth is a classic links course with wondeful holes. The trees give it a different look, but make no mi...
