I am a very keen golfer, native of Australia but work all round the world, and my golf clubs are always with me. I love travelling to Scotland to play the links courses. Also love the Sand Belt courses of Melbourne, where I learnt to play. However, as much as I love playing a great course, I love even more playing the courses no one ever hears of, in places no one would expect to see a golf course. To me, golf is not about the fastest green, perfect fairway or grandest clubhouse. It is about fun, enjoying the walk and trying to hit more good shots than bad. And, most important, meeting the challenge of a game that beats you time and time again, and yet we keep coming back. I love this site because it brings memories, good and bad. It is also a great reference for wherever my next travel is. I hope you don’t all agree with my reviews, for what makes a great hole is a subjective opinion. Long may that be so.

By far the best of the three courses, this one offers the most to all golfers. Unlike Moonah with its brute force requirements this course both beguiles and deceives. Not...

If it weren't for the 17 & 18th, this course would be a standout. The finishing holes are very disappointing, losing all the charm of links golf. However, the first 16 ar...

Depending on who you talk to, this is either the best members sandbelt course or just an average collection of holes. To me is it somewhere in between. The opening hole,...

A fine members course, not long, but challenging. The removal of the many trees has made it an even more exciting layout as this has opened up the lines. The opening hole...

Narrow is exactly how this course can be described. It is nice to play, but unlike other top courses in Australia, especially the Royals, this is nothing more than a good...
