The West course at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club follows in the bunker-free footsteps of its elder brother, the Old. Once the Ladies' course, the West may only be a par 68 of modest length, but it's an au naturale golfing delight.
Welcome to the 9th edition of our Britain & Ireland Top 100, a ranking listed we've published biennially since 2004. Only 15 courses occupy the same position as last time which means there are quite a few fluctuating fortunes...
This is the 8th edition of our English Top 100, a ranking that we have published every two years since 2006. The list won't please everybody, but it’s a considered attempt to reflect the crème de la crème across the country.
In this final English regional re-ranking update, the focus is on eight counties in the South East of the country; namely Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Sussex and Surrey.
Having produced updated ranking lists for England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales over the last couple of months, we’ve now merged those national charts to create an all-embracing Top 100 table for Britain & Ireland.
Welcome to the latest 2018 edition of our Top 100 for England. We first published an English Top 100 more than a decade ago and this is our 7th biennial ranking list for the nation that continues to hide its golfing light under a bushel.
You’ll find England’s largest swathe of heathland in the South East where an almost infinite number of heathery courses are located. There’s also a trio of Open venues with the venerable Royal St George’s heading our inaugural South East Top 50 table.
The West Midlands is the second of seven English regional updates that will inform our higher-level rankings later this year. It’s not a popular destination for travelling golfers, but there’s one course in the region that’s a golfing household name, it’s the course that has hosted more Ryder Cups than any other.
