Adamstal (Wallerbach)
The 9-hole Wallerbach course, as per the Championship course, is a Jeff Howes production that came into operation in 2006. Interestingly, the Wallerback layout includes some holes that formed the 1998 original 18-hole course at Adamstal Golf Club.
Extending to 2,669metres from the back tees, the course plays to a par of 35 with two par three holes and only one par five on the card. Laid out in narrow playing corridors along a valley floor, the fairways are routed away from the clubhouse from the 1st to the 6th before the last three holes then head back to the starting point.
Highlight holes include short par fours at the 2nd (“Antoniahöhe”) and 3rd “Bärenschlucht”) which feature old-fashioned crossing fairways ; the shorter of the two par threes at the 171-metre 7th with a sizeable carry across a small gully; and the downhill closer at the 9th (“Hotelacker”) where a centreline fairway bunker must be avoided en route to the green.
Do yourself a favour if you’re visiting Adamstal – make sure you give yourself enough time to play all twenty-seven holes as this little charmer is not to be missed!
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
