Arelauquen

Laid out on the northern shores of Lago Gutiérrez, a short 20-minute drive from the tourist city of Bariloche, the 18-hole layout at Arelauquen Golf & Country Club is a Vicente “Chino” Fernández design which is set out in a fabulous location.

The course extends to almost 6,300 yards from the back markers – par is set at 71 (35 out then 36 in) – and holes are laid out as two returning nines. The front nine plus holes 10 and 18 on the back nine occupy the portion of the property that lies closest to the clubhouse, with holes 11 to 17 literally carved through the adjacent dense forest landscape.

Highlights include water-laden holes at the par five 5th and short par four 9th: the approach shot has to carry a small lake in front of the former and another lake lurks to the left of the latter. On the inward half, the right doglegging 13th is a tough par four, followed soon after by the spectacular downhill par three 17th, which plays over a creek to the green.
