Arlandastad (Masters)
At Arlandastad Golf you will find two quality golf courses. The Masters course was the venue for The Scandinavian Masters on the European Tour in 2007 and 2008 and has hosted several other professional tournaments over the years.
As the name implies, the facility is located near Stockholm's main Arlanda airport and those that have passed the club on their way to central Stockholm might be surprised when they get to play the course. Although there are no major elevation changes, there are sufficient gentle rolls and swells to the landscape to make the round both challenging and pleasant.
Standing on the 1st tee, you get the impression of what awaits you, two scenic ponds guard the right side, and a single well placed bunker to the right of the landing zone will put some pressure on the opening drive, or maybe an iron off the tee is a the more conservative option?
Water features have been incorporated as a central element on most of the holes and these aquatic hazards are paired with careful bunkering, The Masters course offer a fine test of your course management skills. From the tips it measures 6,200 meters, which might seem short for a tournament course, but with par set at 70, it’s a real challenge.
The Masters course is a fine parkland track, and although it is located close to the airport and the motorway, you will probably be so engrossed in figuring out your next shot that you won't notice the transport infrastructure.
Maybe after enjoying a fine lunch in the pleasant clubhouse, a round on Arlandastad’s New course may be considered? If so, you’ll find the second course a little shorter and more links-like in character.
