Batchworth Park

Batchworth Park Golf Club opened for play in 1996 and is a classical Dave Thomas design. The bunkers are big, bold and plentiful, all doing their best to protect the massive greens. More than 140 acres of Hertfordshire parkland has been sculptured to give the course a modern feel. Many courses have popped up across England since the early 1990s and Batchworth Park safely sits towards the top end of this group.

Batchworth Park stretches to 6,723 yards from the tips but there are enough teeing options to allow all abilities to enjoy the course. After a fairly friendly opening two holes, you find the 3rd, stroke index 1, a tough par four across a valley and worthy of the toughest hole tag. Key to the enjoyment at Batchworth Park is the hole variety and two reachable par fours at the 5th and 10th are great fun, but beware of the greenside bunkers.

The holes at Batchworth Park do have a rather familiar feel. Do not be surprised if you find yourself thinking that you may be at Chart Hills, the Oxfordshire, Hanbury Manor or the Buckinghamshire. There are facets of all of these courses here at Batchworth Park.

Club policy states that visitors need to play with a member but it’s worth trying to befriend one, as Batchworth Park is a decent addition to the Hertfordshire golf scene.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
