Bregenzerwald

Situated in the northwest corner of Austria, less than a kilometre from the border with Germany, the Kurt Rossknecht-designed layout at Golfpark Bregenzerwald is the home course of Golfclub Riefensberg-Sulzberg.

Set out within the Weissach Valley, Bregenzerwald was the first 18-hole course to open for play in the federal state of Voralberg when it debuted in 1998 and it’s matured since then into the charming modern day layout that’s now in operation.

Feature holes include a couple of short par fours at the 6th and 11th – both of which dogleg right to greens protected by ponds to the right of the putting surface – before the round ends in unusual style with two par threes in the last three holes.

Looking at the scorecard, the layout might appear to lack length but the significant undulations of the landscape are such that the holes don’t play short at all, with fairways routed along and across the valley in a most appealing manner.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
