Host venue to the Abierto de Cariló tournament on Argentina’s TPG Tour between 1983 and 2011, the course at Cariló Golf Club is a tale of two halves. Tomas Sanderson’s front nine opened in 1976 with smaller greens and the newer second nine debuted with more generous putting surfaces.
This one holds a nice spot in my heart as I won my first Scratch 72 Hole Tournament with a final round of 70 and 16 years old back in 1990 in an event played with Pros won by Miguel Guzman.
It is located near Pinamar on a very popular Summer Holiday destination and many golfers enjoy it during summer but it is playable all year long. And always in very good shape, a very healthy sandy floor near the ocean makes it the best place to keep a golf course in great condition.
Front 9 are the older holes and my favorite part of the course with 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th being the best holes. Back 9 a little bit more modern and with a different style in green complexes where 15th stands as the best hole.
If you are a golf traveller and want to tick landmarks in each country this is one I would suggest to be played in Argentina.
