Villa Gesell

Golf Club Villa Gesell lies less than two kilometres from the sandy shores of the South Atlantic coastline, in the seaside resort of Villa Gesell. Surprisingly, even with an abundance of sand in the local area, there are few bunkers on the course.

This tree-lined layout extends to 6,240 yards from the back tees, with par set at 71 (36 out then 35 in). Water hazards come into play on several occasions: on the front nine at the right doglegging par four 6th and the long par five 7th (with out of bounds to the left on both these holes) then at the short par three 12th, where the tee shot is struck from a raised position across the hazard to a shallow, 2-tiered green.

Other holes of note include the slightly right bending long par four 5th (rated stroke index 1) which plays to a green that’s protected by a single bunker to the font right of a small putting surface, and the long par five 17th (rated stroke index 2) where the narrow fairway sweeps right to a green guarded by a long bunker on the left. The round then finishes with a straightforward par four that plays to a contoured home green.
