Schladming-Dachstein

Ever since it debuted in 1987, the quality of the golfing facility at Schladming-Dachstein (formerly Dachstein-Tauern) has never been in doubt and indeed it’s one of fifteen top golf clubs – all of which appear in our current Austrian rankings – that are promoted by the marketing organisation, “The Leading Golf courses of Austria”.

Situated in the Styrian region of Austria, the 18-hole layout at Schladming-Dachstein Golf & Country Club is a Bernard Langer-designed alpine course that lies on the floor of a valley with water hazards coming into play at more than half the holes on the card.

Unusually, the course is configured with six par threes – three on each nine – that vary in length between 153 and 214 yards. The shortest of these holes, the par three 6th (“The Beach”) is regarded as the signature hole at Schladming-Dachstein because the tee shot must carry water and an enormous waste bunker in order to reach the green.
