Gower

Designed by Donald Steel and opened for play in the mid-1990s, the 18-hole parkland layout at The Gower Golf Club features a delightful 4-hole “Amen Corner” woodland sequence starting at the par five 8th.

Extending to just over 6,20 yards from the back markers, the course plays to a par of 71 (35 out then 36 in). Water comes into play at the par five 8th, where a pond protects the front of the putting surface as the fairway turns left to the green.

Highlight holes include difficult par fours at the 7th and 14th (stroke index 2 and 1); the par five 10th (where a ditch crosses the fairway diagonally short of the green); and the last of the par threes at the 141-yard 11th in the southernmost part of the property.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
