Hamptons

Known as The Country Club at The Hamptons when it first opened as an exclusive private facility in the mid-1990s, the 18-hole course at The Hamptons Golf Club weaves its way around a substantial residential estate that was developed by Tirion Properties on the outskirts of the Stampede City.

It has never held a big national tournament but the course has hosted a number of high-profile exhibition events with Fred Couples, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino among the big names who have graced the fairways here.

In 2013, The Hamptons was acquired by the Windmill Golf Group – which owns a total of five clubs in the Calgary area – and it operates on a semi-private basis, allowing unaccompanied golfers to now play the course.

Playing to 6,869 yards from the back tees, the layout boasts a fine set of par threes, with the water-protected 8th and 16th the pick of these short holes. Other holes of note on the card include the short par fours at the 353-yard 2nd and 360-yard 12th.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
